Uniform look for Gazette series

The Brentwood Gazette Series has undergone a re-branding exercise, with the introduction of new mastheads.

The previous mastheads for the four-title series, the Brentwood Gazette, Billericay and Wickford Gazette, Ongar and North Weald Gazette and the Harold Gazette, all looked different, but they have now been standardised with the word Gazette dominating.

Editor Roger Watkins said: “In Brentwood the former title, set in Bodoni Poster and cyan in colour has been replaced by a more modern Century derivative in what we call ‘Gazette blue’, made up of 100 per cent cyan, 70 per cent magenta and 20 per cent black.

“The other titles now conform to this.

“This enhancing of our mastheads is long overdue and will identify us more clearly in the market place.”

The changes are being backed by marketing activity built around the slogan: “Trust us. We’ve got it covered.”

The dateline of the Gazette has also changed.

For some years it has been published on a Wednesday while retaining a Thursday dateline.

But it will now carry a Wednesday dateline as it is now being printed at Staverton, from where delivery of the paper is more reliable.
