Two in to save club

A series of appeals in the Plymouth Herald has resulted in a youth club being saved from closure – after two new youth workers stepped forward.

The Tamerton Young Leisure Group looked set to fold when the current leader retired, which would have meant more than 170 youngsters being forced to join other groups around the city.

Retiring Bill Cornish told the Herald: “With an area like Tamerton that is growing so quickly it is so important to have this kind of facility for the youngsters.

“We cannot thank the Herald enough for its coverage – it makes people take notice of a situation and we are forever in its debt.”
