Swindon call "foul" on WDP men

Having to watch Swindon on a press pass is bad enough but Western Daily Press reporter Andrew Jefferson and a snapper have had to pay and sit in the County Groundstand to watch the Robins.

With the club bottom of the league Andrew had reasonably claimed that ColinTodd’s position as manager could be under threat if they lost many moregames.

He was confronted by the club’s chief executive Peter Roe and told Todd wasnot under pressure and that he had a job for life.

Andrew said: “He claimed he was telling me that off the record, but at notime did he make that clear.

“Roe claimed he then banned us after we refused to apologise, but we were banned from the ground after we ran the story.

“When Colin Todd phoned me to moan about it, he admitted he had not evenread our article!

“We have sat in the stand for two games, perhaps there will be a change ofpolicy now that Mr Todd has gone.”

Editor’s note: Mr Todd hasn’t quite moved on yet – his prospective new bosses at Derby County say his on-off move is in the hands of lawyers.
