Swift response after T&A appeal

An appeal in the Bradford Telegraph and Argus has led to a local charity receiving a welcome cash boost from a major bank.

The Bingley Voluntary Action group appeared in the paper to explain how it was being forced to apply for an emergency grant to stay afloat.

The group, which caters for hundreds of elderly folk by providing hot meals and transport, admitted it was in its worst financial crisis since it began.

But after reading of the group’s plight, the Bradford and Bingley bank pledged £25,000 to secure a stable future.

BVA chairman Prue Bray said: “It’s a tremendous boost and an amazing amount of money. It will enable more development work to be done in the community.”
