ManchesterOnline has seen the launch of what it hopes will be a popular new feature, as it held its first web chat earlier this week.

The first guest to be quizzed by an army of ManchesterOnline readers was Manchester Evening News sports editor Peter Spencer.

Peter was grilled on various subjects from world cup predictions and public transport in Japan, to the paper’s coverage of the Commonwealth Games and the United Vs City debate.

ManchesterOnline content editor Sarah Hartley said: “This was the first web chat and it proved to be a successful trial.

“I intend to have many more guests in the future from the worlds of news, sport and entertainment and not just with our own journalists.

“Peter became the first guest because of the general sport-crazy nature of the north west at the moment, not only is everyone focused on the World Cup but there is always a lot of interest in our two Manchester teams as well as the teams across Greater Manchester.”
