Success for Children 2000 appeal

The Aberdeen Evening Express’s Millennium Fund, Children 2000, has ended happily after raising £40,000 for local groups.

Seventy-eight groups will receive a share of the cash, following a year of fundraising events such as carol concerts and soccer tournaments.

Express readers have also saved thousands of tokens printed in the paper, which local groups have collected in a bid to secure a portion of the cash windfall.

St Andrew’s Primary School in Inverurie, was the group to collect the most tokens, with a massive total of 675,968.

To reward its success the school will receive £1,000, which they plan to spend on outdoor games such as a climbing frame, balls and skittles.
