The Ipswich Evening Star has raised more than £35,000 for charity from its annual Press Ball.
More than 350 guests attended the ice-themed event on Friday, held at the Hotel Elizabeth in Copdock, Ipswich.
Entertainment was provided by Tony Hadley, and a raffle and auction helped to raise £27,320 for chosen charity Disability Care Enterprise, which provides specialist equipment for disabled people.
A surprise additional donation of £10,000 was also pledged by event sponsors Call Connection, which will go towards the Evening Star’s campaign Somebody’s Daughter campaign to build a safehouse to help people trapped in the grip of drugs.
