Somerset news team goes on the run

Staff from a Somerset newspaper are recovering after taking part in a three mile fun-run for charity.

The staff from the Weston and Worle News agreed to compete in the race to raise money for people with muscular dystrophy.

And star of the show was assistant production manager Ken Hale, who finished in 22 minutes after running the circuit like a man possessed.

He explained: “I remembered what people said last year – once they stopped it was impossible to get going again.”

Production assistant Tom Sharp was the next person from the News to finish, then came news editor Juliet Auty.

She said: “It was even easier than last year. Who knows, maybe I’ll have a stab at the 10 mile race next year.”

Completing the team was production manager Stuart Richards who finished the course in 40 minutes.

Reporter Ollie Hulme opted to run the one-mile course and was well beaten by his ten-year-old son Daniel.

And while editor Carol Deacon wisely chose to watch from the sidelines, she let slip that she was considering taking part in next year’s event.
