David Lowe, the showbiz writer for the Torquay Herald Express, is celebrating ten years at the helm of a BBC Radio show.

The writer combines work on the paper’s Lowe Down column with his role as presenter of regional BBC’s As Time Goes By programme.

The show was originally commissioned as a single 13-week series but has run without a break since January 1991.

David said: “I guess a measure of the program’s success lies in the fact that it now occupies a prime two-hour slot on Saturday evening.

“Clearly there are an awful lot of people out there who enjoy listening to the wonderful popular recordings from the mid-20th century.”
