Rugby writer's Giant taskfor charity

Huddersfield Daily Examiner journalist Chris Roberts is to give up his comfortable seat in the press box for one night and take to the rugby league field to fulfil a lifelong ambition, while helping to raise money for charity.

The 36-year-old rugby writer has accepted an offer from the Super League Club, and will turn out in Huddersfield’s famous claret and gold in a trial match between the Huddersfield Giants and amateur side Rotherham Giants next Tuesday evening.

The match, to be staged at the Herringthorpe Stadium, Rotherham, will help Multiple Sclerosis charities.

Chris said: “Although my presence will give the build-up to the contest a lighter feel, Tuesday’s match is a very important occasion.

“It’s the chance for talented young players to try to earn a contract with the Huddersfield Giants. But it will also give me a reminder of why I am better off in the press box!”
