Rix appointed managing director of MEN Media

Mark Rix has been appointed managing director of Manchester Evening News publisher MEN Media.

Previously managing director of MEN Media Sales, the group said the move was part of a restructure of its senior management team as it continues to transform from a traditional newspaper publisher to a regional multi-media news and information provider.

In addition, Simon Toft, who was formerly deputy MD of MEN Media Sales, has been appointed commercial director at MEN Media.

Mark Dodson, CEO of parent company GMG Regional Media, said: “I am pleased to be able to develop the management talent I have within the GMG Regional Media business and am looking forward to supporting Mark and his team as they drive MEN Media forward into the future.

“As a company, we have not been afraid to challenge how things have been done in our industry.

“Making changes to meet the needs of how people want to receive news in the 21st century is essential to our future growth. The new team structure will enable us to continue this strategy in the coming years.”

In his new role Mark will be responsible for the profitability and direction of MEN Media. He has worked for Guardian Media Group for 19 years.

Simon will be in charge of all MEN Media Sales operations for print, online and broadcast titles, as well as door-to-door activities.

MEN Media’s portfolio includes the Manchester Evening News as well as more than 20 weekly papers and Channel M Television.
