Reporter is on a roll

Those brave people at the Llanelli Star aren’t the kind to turn down a challenge – especially when it’s issued by the Rollercoaster Club of Great Britain.

Without a moment’s hesitation they waved reporter Diane Williams off as she joined 1,500 thrillseekers on the Megamania charity splash.

The idea was to ride the white-knuckle Megaphobia roller coaster at Oakwood Park carrying two full cups of water.

She told readers: “With an 80-foot first drop, 3,000 feet of track, 11 crossover points, six full turns and double camel humps – there was more water on the white-knuckle maniacs than in the cups come the final brake.

“Although some skilled riders managed to keep a mouthful of water in their cups, for the amateurs among them, the Megamania charity splash proved impossible.”

The stunt should have raised at least £2,000 for the charity Give Kids the World which helps terminally ill children.
