Regional press is "No1"

The regional press is still the most consulted information source for job vacancies – with recruitment ads looked at by 79% of people looking for a new job.

And because it is a trusted brand, it is in the best position to move forward into electronic media.

The figures were revealed at the inaugural National Recruitment Group conference, where speakers agreed that investment was the key, both in electronic media and in the traditional print sector.

The conference was organised and chaired by the Newspaper Society.

It took place in London and involved regional press publishers and national sales operations as well as representatives from the Central Office of Information and Manpower, which provided a perspective from advertisers.

Guest speakers included representatives of Guardian Newspapers, Newsquest, SMG, EMAP Digital, De Standaard in Belgium and AC Nielsen MMS.
