Recorder editor in TV acting debut

The editor of the Newham Recorder has made his acting debut on TV in a schools programme on Channel Four.

Colin Granger features in a series of five programmes Writing for Kicks which tackles literacy problems, particularly among boys, using football to get the message across.

The series was filmed partly in the Recorder’s East Ham offices earlier this year and both the editor and his staff appear in the programme.

It follows a youngster on work experience who gets the chance to write a report on a game at West Ham United.

The first episode Match Reports shows the work experience lad Jim getting his big chance.

He is called into the editor’s office to receive expert guidance and gets the chance to question the then manager Harry Redknapp after the game against Spurs.

Colin said: “We were glad to help.

“Our commitment to adult and child literacy has been shown in a variety of projects we have been involved with over the years.”
