Reality TV chance for young journalists

A television company is looking for young journalists to spend three months in a new reality TV show.

The innovative programme, provisionally titled Ca Roule – or “We’re rolling” – would throw eight young Europeans together on a once-in-a-lifetime bus tour travelling the length and breadth of Europe.

Each member of the bus will record daily reports which will then be broadcast along with pictures from the bus.

The reports will give a unique reflection of the impressions the person has of his surroundings and the effect they have had on them to give a real voice to the young in Europe today.

They would have to be available for the whole period but expenses – both in Europe and back home – would be taken care of by Paris-based Morgane Productions, which is teaming up with a major French channel for the project.

Morgane’s Kirsty Hinton said: “This is a fantastic and unique opportunity for the person chosen from the UK and/or Ireland to discover the ‘true’ Europe behind the rhetoric and to experience it in the company of seven other adventurers, each from utterly different backgrounds.

“We are looking for young people between the ages and 18 and 25 with a distinctive voice and a strong desire to find out how they fit into the world around them.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the lucky few, a televisual first.”

Bus-hoppers must be available from March to May 2003 and the television company is receiving applications during December, ready for casting in the UK and Ireland in the New Year.

Kirsty said: “We are looking for individuals who have proved their curiosity about the world around them through journalism, film-making or broadcasting.

“Don’t worry if you can’t fulfil the exact criteria – what we are looking for is a clear thirst for knowledge and a proven initiative. We are looking for journalists and wannabe journalists, filmmakers, writers or just passionate, opinionated individuals to take part. A foreign language would of course be a plus.

“This is a fantastic, exhilarating opportunity for a young European straining to be heard and curious about the European identity in today’s climate. It is also a unique chance to develop your chosen craft.”

Anyone interested should send their CV for the attention of Kirsty to [email protected], or fax them to 00 33 143 149115.
