Readers given chance to have say on planned sculpture

Readers of the Lincolnshire Echo are being given the chance to have their say on a planned sculpture for the city.

A model of the £34,000 Brayford Wharf sculpture is being displayed in the paper’s office foyer along with designs of the piece so that readers can give their reaction.

  • On view at the Echo
  • The finished sculpture will be 25ft high.

It will have a galvanised steel base, with a long arm that rotates 360 degrees during the hour, acting as a sundial highlighting tiny marks on the ground.

Copper plates will run along the arm and water will run down them, setting off a bell that will chime on the hour.

Arts officer Jeremy Webster said: “The model gives people a chance to see it and make comments on it.

“Final designs have been submitted to the planning committee, so we would not be able to modify it much, but we still welcome suggestions and comments.”
