The creator of a comic strip which appears in a Norfolk weekly newspaper has been driven to the brink of insanity trying to prepare for the cartoon’s first public appearance.

Skip and Horrie first appeared in the Lynn News four years ago and were created by Hunstanton cartoonist Fred Nicholls.

The comic duo are due to feature in an exhibition of around 200 of their very own original cartoons, but unfortunately for Fred, about 70 of the cartoons have not been saved for posterity.

This has meant a last-minute rush for Fred to recreate the original art work in time for the exhibition.

He said: “I have had to draw again the full-colour cartoons from the Lynn News archive.

“I have really had to burn the midnight oil… and I’m just about all Skip and Horried out!

“I’ve learnt a very exhausting lesson – save everything.”

Skip and Horrie have been dispensing a unique weekly dose of comment on the fortunes and misfortunes of West Norfolk folk since they first appeared in the paper.
