Student snappers line up for awards

Nominations have been announced for a new category in the Picture Editors’ Awards.

Students were invited to enter for the first time this year in a category sponsored by the Corporation of London.

The four nominations comprise Ben Birchall, who was an NCTJ trainee in Sheffield before joining the Lincolnshire Echo and then the Bristol Evening Post, Cristina Nunziata, of the London College of Printing, Tina Stallard, of London Guildhall University and Toby Williams, of Sheffield College.

The awards will be announced at a ceremony in the Great Hall of Guildhall, London, on Monday 27th May, before an invited audience of 600 drawn from the media, business, politics, and the photographic industry.

The other nominees, for a range of categories, can be seen here.

The Picture Editors’ Awards are established to recognise and reward the very best of photographic journalism in the UK and Ireland.

The 2002 Awards are sponsored by Fujifilm and Getty Images, with additional support from Diageo and the Corporation of London.
