Spooky picture causes a stir in Wiltshire – and beyond

A mysterious “ghost” picture taken at a haunted pub by a photographer from the Wiltshire Gazette & Herald has created international interest.

The Gazette website – thisiswiltshire.co.uk – attracted more than 100,000 extra page impressions within a day of the photograph appearing.

And the pub – the Red Lion in Avebury – has been inundated with customers and ghost hunters asking to see the restaurant where the photograph was taken and the mirror in which the ghastly reflection of a blood-splattered face was captured.

The spooky photograph (above) was taken by the Gazette & Herald’s John Myers, while covering a vigil at the pub by a group of supernatural investigators.

He remained with them for some time and while in the pub restaurant, where the lights were turned off, he took random pictures.

It wasn’t until two days later when he came to download the images that he made the gruesome discovery of the face.

John said: “I was just taking random shots around the room to see if I could pick up any orbs or anything.”

Since the photograph was published, one of the paper’s overseas readers from Italy, who keeps up with theWiltshire news on the Internet, Dr Claudio Pisano, has identified what appears to be a second face at the side of the bleeding image.
