A new book of historic pictures of Bristol from the Evening Post archives has been published.

The photographs have been compiled by Post researcher Gerry Brooke who has worked for the paper for 29 years.

The book Bristol – 50 Years in Pictures, contains a wide range of photos giving a fascinating insight into the recent past of the city.

It covers many subjects such as the changing face of the city docks, transport, railways and the city’s social history.

Gerry was formerly librarian for the Post and its sister paper, the Western Daily Press, before taking up his current post.

He said: “It feels really good to see these wonderful old Evening Post pictures in print. There are thousands of them tucked away in our archives, just waiting for more publications.”
