Banned – that's Asda's price

A press photographer was banned from Asda for life after pursuing his prey into the store after a court case.

Finbarr Webster staked out Weymouth magistrates’ court for a whole day waiting for Amos Thompson, convicted of filming a topless teenage girl through her bedroom window.

Thompson knew the Dorset Echo snapper was outside and left only when the premises were locked up for the night.

Finbarr said: “I had been in court and outside court for a total of six hours, it had become dark which meant I couldn’t be discreet and had to use short lens and flash.

“The news editor had made it clear that this was an important story for the next day’s paper.

“Thompson came out eventually – with his face covered in clothing, I did some pictures of this but was unhappy having waited six hours for a picture of a coat.

“I asked him to show me his face or I would go where he went. I followed him as he struggled not to walk into anything, and the cat-and-mouse game carried on for several hundred metres until he sought refuge in Asda.”

Staff called the manager when the photographer followed his subject inside. He soon found Thompson – in the video section.
