A lucky reader of the Sheffield Star is about to join the South Yorkshire police on an aid expedition to India and Pakistan.
The paper is looking for a member of the public to join the trip and act as a special correspondent.
They will form part of the mercy mission to the sub-continent.
But the paper has specified they will also need an eye for a story and be able to produce high quality words and photographs for Star readers.
The Star will meet the flight costs, and supply the camera and film – and the police will pay for accommodation on the 17-day trip.
The strict selection process also involves being able to attend regular meetings in Sheffield, take part in forthcoming charity events, which includes performing in a concert, and raising money for the charity in advance of the trip.
The India 2000 expedition will deliver cash aid and vital supplies to the poverty-stricken communities.
The Star carried an interview with former student Andrew Wilkinson, who joined the police on a previous trip.
He told the readers: “It became quite emotional. Although they were living in poor conditions the people there were very happy.
“That is what stood out about the experience.
“When we went I was 18 and I would go as far as to say I was a little bit immature, but I grew up a lot and the trip put a lot of things into perspective for me.”
He enjoyed the trip and the challenge so much that he’s planning a return journey.
