Paperboys hit the headlines

Two quick-witted paperboys have made the news in separate incidents this week.

Joe Davis, 15, who delivers the Coventry Evening Telegraph, was the first to make the headlines when he and his friend saved the life of a pensioner who had slipped into an icy pond.

Whilst doing their evening round, the pair spotted 71-year-old Jason Lucas struggling to escape the 8ft deep pond and immediately dragged him from the freezing water.

And 16-year-old Adam Henry got in on the act in Cumbria while delivering the Whitehaven News.

He heard moaning noises coming from inside a house so he ran next door to phone an ambulance.

He said: “I was frightened but you don’t have time to think, you just have to get on with it.”

The elderly householder was taken to hosopital where he was recovering.
