Paper seeks winter wonderland

Following the success of last year’s competition, the Torquay Herald Express is once again searching for the most dazzling displays in the area.

The newspaper, together with Torbay Council and businessman Marshall Ritchie, has asked readers to nominate the brightest, most garish Christmas decorations in Torbay.

The contest has been split into three categories – best residential outdoor display, most imaginative residential display and best commercial outdoor display.

Each category’s winner will be given a cup and a certificate recognising the hard work that has gone into their display.

The judging panel includes Herald Express assistant head of content, Tina Crowson, and the council officer Ian Oxley.

He said: “Last year’s displays were really quite impressive. It certainly brightens up winter, it’s just a shame they all come down after Christmas.”
