Paper's poster poser to capture killers

The Weston and Somerset Mercury has joined forces with the police to help solve a murder on its patch.

Weston-super-Mare man Tim Young was attacked before being left for dead in his home which was then set on fire.

Now 60 officers are working on the case to find his murderers, and the Mercury has teamed with police to produce a poster to help catch the killers.

  • The incident began at 3.48am last Monday when three fire engines were called to the ground floor flat. They arrived to find flames and smoke pouring out of one of the windows. The crews forced entry in and reappeared with Mr Young, who was taken to intensive care where he later died.

Police have revealed there may be keys missing from Mr Young’s house, either loose or in a bunch. In particular these would include a Yale type key and a mortise lock key.

They believe that Mr Young was attacked with a weapon which may be a club or piece of wood. Any such weapon would be heavily blood stained.
