Nick and Nic complete County Times line-up

With the addition of veteran journalist Nic Outterside as deputy editor, the editorial team of the County Times is up to full strength.

Editor Nick Knight recently took over at the Powys-based paper after a long stint as deputy editor of the Cornish Guardian.

Both Nick and Nic have a long record of success on regional papers.

Brighton-born Nic Outterside, (49), started his career in the early 1980s working for a series of glossy trade magazines. He cut his teeth on newspaper reporting with the North Wales Weekly News before moving to Scotland to edit three weekly broadsheets.

Nic later became chief investigative reporter for The Scotsman and filled the same role for North of England tabloid The Sunday Sun.

Among a clutch of awards to his name are Scottish Daily Journalist of the Year, Scottish Weekly Journalist of the Year and North of England Daily Journalist of the Year.

  • Nick Knight, (45), worked on the Cornish title for 26 years, starting as a trainee reporter and working up to the deputy editor’s job.

    He saw the paper through many changes including the move from hot metal to computerised make-up and from broadsheet to tabloid format.

    The Cornish paper was shortlisted for a number of awards and within the last year picked up the title of Weekly Newspaper of the Year for the South West and Wales and Front Page of the Year and Weekly Paper of the Year at the last EDF Energy South West Media Awards.
