Next VP is lined up

Jonathan Grun, the editor of PA News, has been nominated as vice president of the Society of Editors.

The board unanimously approved a proposal by current vice president Liz Page.

She said Grun would be an excellent choice both because of his skills and experience and because of PA’s role in serving all sectors of the media.

Grun, (46), was appointed editor of the Press Association in February 2000.

He joined the agency in 1979 as a general reporter and has held a number of posts, including news editor, night editor and deputy editor.

He was born in Cardiff and started in journalism while still at school by working for a sports agency. He is married with two children.

The nomination will go to the annual meeting of the Society during its Belfast conference in October and, subject to members’ approval, he will succeed Page as vice president in October and then as president for 2002-3.
