Staff at the Carmarthen Journal have taken up the Welsh learning challenge as part of Welsh Learning Week which aims to encourage people to take up the language.
Journal employees received a visit from S4C’s TV tutor Nia Parry who is visiting businesses across Wales for an introductory Welsh lesson in the workplace.


The Evening Chronicle in Newcastle has launched Toon Heroes, a major autumn promotion which will run for four weeks to celebrate Newcastle United FC.
Each day throughout the period, a Newcastle United collector card will be given away to everyone who purchases a copy of the Evening Chronicle or The Pink. In addition, 200 cards will contain a ‘Golden Ticket’ and readers who find these will win a full set of cards, a wallchart and have a chance to win a VIP day out at an NUFC home game.


Des Clements, the sea angling correspondent for the North Devon Journal, has died aged 74.

The papers will be distributed as part of the Local Education Authority’s recruitment drive which aims “to sell the city and the teaching profession and break down stereotypical views of Hull”.
