The Society of Editors annual conference will take place in Manchester from November 4 to 6.
It will be based at the Radisson Edwardian Manchester in the heart of the city which is home to this year’s SoE president, Manchester Evening News editor Paul Horrocks.

Associated Northcliffe Digital, the digital division of Associated Newspapers and Northcliffe Media, has appointed The One Off to develop the brand identity of its ‘Thisis’ network of 32 regional newspaper websites.
The network, which includes sites like thisisbristol.co.uk, attracts more than 2m unique visitors every month and has enjoyed 40 per ent growth in traffic over the past 12 months.


St Helens Star editor Steve Leary has been named St Helens Ambassador at the town’s Tourism and Leisure Awards.
He received the award, sponsored by St Helens Council, at an Oscar-style gala evening at Haydock Park Racecourse.


Former regional press journalist-turned-musician John Tams missed out on a top gong after being nominated at the Radio Two Folk Awards.
The ex-Belper News editor and Ripley and Heanor News and Derbyshire Times journalist was in the running for the Best Original Song prize for his track Steelos.
The winner was Daisy by Karine Polwart.


Guardian Media Group has appointed Steve Folwell to the new position of Head of Strategy.
He will take responsibility for the strategy process at GMG level and will also assist in the strategy development of the group’s divisions, which includes Reading Evening Post and Manchester Evening News publisher GMG Regional Media.
