New Year challenge for Richard

Richard Williams is to become editor-in-chief at North Wales Newspapers.

Currently deputy editor at the Daily Post in North Wales, Richard, (34), will take on his new role in the New Year.

He will be responsible for North Wales Newspapers’ three-edition evening title, the Evening Leader, and two weekly titles, the Wrexham Leader and the Standard.

Richard said: “I’m moving from the morning paper to the evening paper.

“I’ve lived in the circulation area of both papers for about 10 years so I know them well.

“There are only two daily editor jobs in North Wales so I’m really excited and very much looking forward to it.”

The move will see Richard join a new newspaper publisher after working on Trinity Mirror titles for the past 12 years.

In 1989 he joined the Daily Post and Liverpool Echo as a trainee news reporter.

He was later appointed news editor at the Daily Post before joining Wales on Sunday in the same role.

A move back to the Daily Post saw him take on the role of assistant editor before becoming deputy editor four years ago.

Richard will leave the Daily Post on December 19 and take up his new role on January 6, 2003, replacing Mark Rossiter.
