Leading UK regional newspaper group Johnston Press has agreed to buy 14 new titles for £16.5m – subject to approval from the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.

Johnston, which is currently the 4th largest publisher of local and regional newspapers in the UK, has acquired the Lincoln Standard Group Ltd and Four Counties Newspapers Ltd from Southnews plc.

The deal involves a total of 14 newspaper titles in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and East Yorkshire.
