New signing at Scotsman.com

Scotsman.com has appointed a new deputy editor (content) in a drive to create more specialised news services.

Will Springer, a former assistant managing editor of the Wall Street Journal Online, will head up a team charged with developing new editorial products to increase revenue.

Editor Stewart Kirkpatrick said: “The fact that Scotsman.com can attract someone with the track record of Will demonstrates the high regard in which the site is held worldwide.

“We have been working for a while now on developing a premium content service that will attract specialised advertising and that readers will pay for.

“The Wall Street Journal is one of the few websites that has implemented a successful charging model and we plan to introduce such quality to increase revenue.”

In addition to being the online home of the Scotsman, Edinburgh Evening News and Scotland on Sunday, Scotsman.com has also created its own content since 2001.

It was established in August 1996 and has an editorial staff of six.
