New names, new roles

The Newspaper Society has announced the promotion of two members of its senior management team: Santha Rasaiah and Lynne Anderson.

Previously head of Political, Editorial and Regulatory Affairs, Santha becomes PERA director, while Lynne, previously head of communications, becomes communications director.

NS director David Newell said: “I am delighted to announce these new positions. They underline the importance of Santha’s and Lynne’s contributions to the senior management and overall direction of the Newspaper Society.”

The two directors have joined the NS finance and administration committee, chaired by honorary treasurer Sir Ray Tindle, and will play a key role in developing and implementing NS strategy.

The Society’s services are split into three broad areas: PERA, Marketing, and Communications. The voice of Britain’s regional press, the NS works to improve the regulatory and commercial environment for its members.

In the forthcoming year, it will be focusing its efforts on relaxing UK media ownership restrictions, attracting new national advertising revenue into the medium, and developing UK Publishing Media, the £18 billion alliance of newspapers, magazines and books.
