The press will be descending on a newspaper office on Monday – for the re-launch of the Buchan Observer.

The Observer is expecting interest from TV and radio as well as magazines and newspapers as the first front page to carry news and photos runs off the presses.

Guests to the event will include four members of the Scottish parliament, three parliamentary candidates, eight councillors, the local police chief and a group of fishermen’s leaders. The guest list numbers some 200 in all.

The Aberdeenshire publication’s move means only two paid-for newspapers in the UK have an advertising-only front page.
