New look for Liverpool papers

Life on Merseyside is set to become a lot more colourful thanks to new technology at the Liverpool Echo and Daily Post.

The production department at Old Hall Street has just finished modifying its three presses to increase the colour capacity.

The modification has taken two years to complete and will mean that nearly 50 per cent of each paper can be printed in colour.

In the last couple of weeks, the production department has been running trials on different sections of the paper to test the new system.

But the big increase in the amount of colour pages will take place in the New Year when the Echo gets a new look.

Echo deputy editor Tony Storey said: “It’s all part of our plans to offer all our readers an even better service.”
