New editor for Scotsman

Iain Martin is to succeed Rebecca Hardy as editor of The Scotsman.

He will take up the role on January 2, and at 30 years old will be the youngest editor in the paper’s history.

Iain began his newspaper career on The Sunday Times in Scotland before joining Scotland on Sunday as political editor in 1997.

He moved to The Scotsman to become assistant editor and political commentator in 2000, before rejoining Scotland on Sunday as deputy editor earlier this year.

Andrew Neil, publisher of The Scotsman Publications Limited, said: “Iain Martin has proved to be a superb journalist and I am confident that he will take The Scotsman to the next stage of its development.”
