New communications role for Evening News' Lisa

Newspaper group Archant has appointed a new communications officer, direct from one of its daily newspaper titles.

Lisa Horton has taken up the part-time post after working for the Norwich Evening News for the past year.

She also previously worked for Archant Anglia’s Advertiser series, where she gained her NCTJ and NVQ Level 4 in Journalism.

In her new role Lisa (pictured) will work alongside communications manager Keith Morris, and will be assistant editor of staff magazine Archant Network as well as updating Archant’s intranet web pages and dealing with press enquiries.

The move to a three-day working week will also allow Lisa to dedicate more time to her band, Bearsuit, which has just come back from a UK tour and has recorded sessions for BBC Radio 1 and London’s XFM.

With two albums already under their belts, the experimental six-piece are about to embark on recording more tracks for their record label Fantastic Plastic, which launched the careers of Ash and the Futureheads.

She said: “I love journalism so it was as hard decision to leave the Evening News but I would like to be able to devote more time to making music.”
