Mysteries Out of the Blue

Unsolved mysteries, freak accidents and tales of the unexpected are all covered in the latest publication from the Lincolnshire Echo.

Out of the Blue is a one-off special which has been put together after several readers wrote in with stories and questions about past happenings in the county.

Edition editor Peter Reynolds put together the compilation in a bid to answer their queries, as well as put in a few mysteries of his own.

Mr Reynolds said: “We encouraged people to write to us with interesting stories that have been at the back of their minds, or who had unusual questions they want answering.

“Through Out of the Blue, we have been able to include all of these, as well as some tales of our own.

“The edition includes unusual industrial accidents and freak storms and various other tales.

“For example, the massive tidal wave that hit the nearby town of Louth, and the torpedo explosion on Scunthorpe beach.”

All are included in the 48-page edition, which is the latest in a line of one-off publications from the Echo.

The last one came out two months ago. Tales from the Gallows follows the history of hangings in Lincoln from Victorian times, to the last execution in town in 1961.
