Mike's a dab hand

A journalist sparked a consumer scare when a can of paint exploded in his home, covering him and the room with green paint.

Mike Goodey, sailing correspondent for the Daily Echo in Bournemouth, was shaking the aerosol can in his hand according to the instructions when it blew apart in his home.

Shocked, and still covered in green paint, he rushed back to the Halfords store where it was bought to warn staff – and buy some thinners to remove the mess.

He said: “The can suddenly exploded in my left hand with enormous force.

“I felt as if I had been burned or punched in the lower chest and my hand was stinging and aching, also feeling as if it had been burnt.

“Both my hands were covered in paint so it was impossible to see what damage had been caused.

If it had blown apart at face height I dread to think what would have happened.”

The store is conducting an investigation.
