Midlands titles get new editor

BBC news producer Alan Wallcroft has been appointed as editor of twoNewsquest weeklies.

He takes the helm of the Bromsgrove Advertiser/Messenger and Droitwich SpaAdvertiser on May 29, succeeding Mark Whitehouse who has left the company topursue a career outside newspapers.

The announcement was made by Mike Donovan, Newsquest (Stourbridge) Limited’smanaging director, on April 27.

Alan joins Newsquest from radio where he is a news producer with BBC RadioGloucestershire.

Prior to joining the BBC, he held various editorial positions on newspapersin Worcestershire and Gloucestershire including the Gloucester News and theMalvern Gazette, where he was deputy editor.

Some years ago Alan was also deputy editor at Bromsgrove and sports editorfor both the Bromsgrove and Redditch titles.

Commenting on the appointment, Mike Donovan said: “I am delighted that Alanis joining us, and I am sure you will all join me in welcoming him to theteam.”
