Mexican nightmare sparks paper appeal

A woman who suffered an horrific accident on holiday in Mexico is receiving messages of support from readers of the Torquay Herald Express.

Lyndsey Collings, (28), was on her first foreign holiday when she plunged four storeys from her hotel room balcony.

The holidaymaker from Paignton had slipped on a wet floor.

Now doctors at the Mexican hospital where she is being treated fear she may be paralysed from the waist down.

So the Torquay Herald Express is launching a ‘Get Well Card’ campaign to urge readers to send cards of support to Lyndsey.

In the fall, she suffered a damaged spine, a broken leg, two broken wrists and blood in her lungs.

Torbay MP Adrian Sanders has now stepped in to organise an emergency passport for Lyndsey’s mother who is desperate to see her daughter.

Brenda Collings said: “I just want her back in a UK hospital really , but she’s too ill. I’m ready to fly out if need be.”

Mr Sanders said: “I hope your Get Well Card campaign will help her stay in touch with home. We all want her speedy recovery.”
