Machray steps up to become editor-in-chief

Jane Wolstenholme, (28), is to become acting editor of the Daily Post as its editor steps aside to take on a new role in the company.

Alastair Machray, who has edited the Post since May 1995, has been promoted to editor-in-chief of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo’s Welsh operations from Monday.

He said: “I am naturally sad to be leaving Liverpool after seven and a half enormously stimulating years. Yet I am happy that the Post is a better newspaper than the one I inherited, and that it is well set for an exciting future. I look forward to seeing the Post – and the region – move forward at pace.”

Jane is currently assistant editor of the Post’s sister paper, the Liverpool Echo. She is a graduate of Liverpool University, was born and bred in the city and joined the Daily Post and Echo as a trainee. She is also a former Daily Mail sub-editor.

She said: “”I am committed to the region and its regeneration and see the Post as an important player in that field.

“I am very excited by the challenges that will present themselves over the next few months.”
