Police are delighted with the response from readers of the Ilkeston Advertiser after a video still of a knifeman was featured on the paper’s front page.
Officers issued the picture after a man staged six raids in three days.
The robber threatened staff at grocery stores, newsagents and a card shop.
But following the publication of a CCTV still in the Advertiser, several readers have called the police with information.
And now the police have compiled a list of suspects which they are working through.
Detective sergeant Andy Gibbs said: “There has been a good response and we have eliminated a few names.
“We are making enquiries into the other names.”
