Johnston Press launches new motors website

Regional publishing group Johnston Press has launched a new motoring website www.motorstoday.co.uk.

The site allows users to search more than 100,000 used vehicles under the categories of location, price, make and model.

Car listings are drawn from both private and trade motor advertisements in the group’s regional papers.

Motorstoday also features motoring news and car reviews.

Head of new media for Johnston Press, John Bradshaw, said: “We took on board customer responses and formulated the look and feel of the site which is very easy to use.

“The primary reason for the site was to create a car search engine.

“On its first day, the site attracted over 8,000 searches for cars which was a good start and it has been steady since.”

The site serves as a brand extension to Johnston’s existing ‘today’ regional newspaper websites with its similar design.

Pop-up advertisements on all of the company’s regional newspaper websites have assisted the launch of the site, in addition to extensive promotion within the group’s 250-plus printed titles.
