Jaya to jump from 10,000ft

Slough Observer reporter Jaya Sisodia is about to become a daredevil skydiver and leap from a plane at 10,000ft in a charity parachute jump.

She will be joining pub regulars and bar staff from the Maypole pub, Windsor, to raise cash for cystic fibrosis patients.

Falling thousands of feet isn’t something most people would relish but Jaya will be in good company as the group raises thousands of pounds in the jump on the weekend of May 25 and 26.

She said: “I’m not scared about it but I can’t say how I’ll feel when I’m up there ready to jump.

“I’ve done jumping off a mountain with a paraglider before and this could be similar.

“There will be 60 other people from the local area taking part over the two days – it’s a good cause and there’s a good local angle.

“Every week we’ve been covering different people who will be doing the jump with me.”

Jaya has been at the Slough Observer for a year after spotting the job advertised at HoldTheFrontPage – and she’s had a busy time.

As well as the normal duties of a busy weekly newsroom, she’s found time to be a firefighter for a day and take part in a customs and excise drugs raid.

She said: “I came out of college into this job and everyone gets to do some good stories here.”
