Is the Citizen a load of rubbish?

So what do you do when you’ve finished reading your local paper?

Simply throw it into the bin?

Well, the Gloucester Citizen has conducted a poll that has revealed thesurprising number of uses people put their favourite paper to.

One readers soaks it with water and then cleans her windows with it -claiming nothing does the job better.

Another stuffs the pages in rain-drenched shoes to dry them out.

Drawer liners, animal cage bedding, garden frost protectors, DIY timberpacking or simply protecting furniture from paint splashes are just a few ofthe other uses uncovered by reporter Dennis Apperley.

He said the Citizen was also popular as cat litter, paper hats and paperaeroplanes.

But veteran journalist Hugh Worsnip came up with a suggestion that showeda remarkable insight into his lifestyle.

He said: “It makes excellent thermal insulation for our unfortunatehomeless who sleep rough.”
