In search of romance

Gloucester Citizen journalist George Henderson found himself despatched to see match-maker Rosemary Bulleid for a feature on an introduction agency.

Described in the standfirst of the piece as a “serial monogamist”, George said he was “as nervous as a schoolboy summoned to the headmaster’s study” as he knocked on the door of Rosemary’s cottage in Frampton-on-Severn.

Rosemary set up Cavendish Introductions after a couple of disastrous efforts to meet a new partner several years after she was widowed.

After two years, she can boast five weddings plus 15 couples who are living together or in a long-term relationship.

Whether she will have the same success with Mr Henderson remains to be seen.

He concluded: “At the end of the day, Rosemary didn’t have my ideal partner panting in her files. But she assures me that if she comes across a voluptuous Venezuelan heiress who’s been scouring the world in vain for that short, bald, bespectacled, overweight and impecunious wordsmith of her dreams – she’ll be in touch.

“And do you know, I think she just might!”
