Hospice plan set to clear final hurdle

Planning permission has been granted for a new children’s hospice in Worthing.

The project is backed by the Worthing Herald, which has co-ordinated the fund-raising appeal to help the new centre.

It could be less than three weeks before the final “okay” is given – the plans have had to go for Government approval because the building is considered a major development in the Sussex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

But campaigners are hopeful there will be no hold-ups from the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions.
