Heart attack claims life of long-serving journalist

A journalist who spent 27 years working for the Plymouth Evening Herald has died.

Mike Miller, who retired in 1995, died after suffering the latest in a series of heart attacks. He was 65.

Before joining the Evening Herald Mike had worked for the Tiverton Gazette and the Sunday Independent in Plymouth.

In 1969 Mike made his move to the paper where he would spend the next 27 years, working as news editor, features editor and then associate editor.

He also wrote the popular column The View From Here, and in his spare time he wrote a motoring column.

Following his retirement Mike continued to work as a journalist on a freelance basis, as a sub-editor for the Evening Herald and the Western Morning News.
