Hairy ordeal for Echo staff

Staff at the Daily Echo in Bournemouth are taking part in a particularly hairy ordeal.

They have pledged to take part in a razor-sharp charity quest to raise funds for male cancer charity campaignEveryman.

Fourteen staff at the Newsquest title have binned their razors and begun sporting moustaches as part of the Tacheback Challenge which is taking place during the whole of September.

  • Those taking part in the challenge are Daily Echo editor Neal Butterworth along with editorial staff Lyndon Hogg, Neil Meldrum, Scott Harrison, Steve Wilson, Andrew Chappell, Roan Fair and Robin Thompkins.

They are joined by newspaper sales manager Steve Court, along with colleagues Robin Hancox, Steve Crawford and Adrian Biles and telephone sales executive James Leavett.

Neal (above, second right) said: “Most of us of a certain age have suffered the anguish of wearing a moustache past its sell-by date, but it’s encouraging to see youngsters brave enough to take on the responsibility.

“We’re really keen to support a very worthy cause, but I sense this will be a very long month for us all.”
